So Germany may not be known for its warm winter weather, but why not get into the festive spirit with a trip to the beautiful city of Frankfurt.
Germany is famous for its incredible Christmas markets, and if there is one that you have to attend, then it is Frankfurt’s which is one of the oldest in Germany, dating back to Medieval times. Traditional vendors sell handcrafted decorations alongside the more modern but none-the-less popular curry-wurst food stalls.
Feeling the December chill in the air? Why not enjoy some traditional Gluhwein as you take in the beautiful and ancient architecture around you. Or how about munching on some very Dickensian hot roasted chestnuts as you sip on a small glass of fiery schnapps.
If after this you’re still chilly, you can always make your way to one of the many stalls selling furs, winter boots, beautifully intricate hand-made jumpers and mittens amongst other things. Not only could you find the perfect Christmas gift, but you can ensure that you stay toasty warm too!
The Frankfurt Christmas Market is the perfect destination to head to in order to get into the festive spirit and although it can be a bit chilly, wrap up warm, find a nice spot near one of the outdoor fire pits and find your Christmas joy.
